I Read to Learn and to be Informed

I'm going into my junior year of high school and am taking all advanced core classes. I will be in Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Calculus, AP English and AP US History. For my English class, I have to read three books for summer reading. The first is The Bible As/In Literature by James S. Ackerman, Thayer S. Warshaw and John Sweet. I do not claim any religion as my own, nor do I believe in God, however, I love to learn, I don't get tired of it, so I really enjoy this book. We only have to read the Bible stories in it and I think it's very informative and interesting. I think it's a good way to learn about the Bible if you don't want to read the whole thing but want to learn what is in it. The second book is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I tried to read the first chapter and I couldn't get interested in it so I stopped and started reading my third book (I got to choose from a list) which is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I started reading it so easily and it just started flowing! I have finished the first ten or eleven chapters in a few weeks which I think is a good amount considering I don't really want to read it and it's summer! It's about a boy who is raised "by hand" by his sister because his parents past and as far as I've gotten, he's just had a few adventures. The last book I'm reading is the sixth book in the Pretty Little Liars series. I just looked it up on Wiki and realized that it is the sixth when I thought it was the fifth. Whoops! Back to the library for me. The other book in the pictures is Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens which I bought because I thought it was going to be the book I chose to read but it was boring so Great Expectations took it's place. :)

I'm getting Naked!!

We stopped at a gas station for gas and decided to grab a drink. I'm tired of always drinking sodas then feeling guilty because I know how bad they are for me, and I know I love juices and other things. I started trying to drink less of them, but not stopping completely because I know that'd be unrealistic for me. I usually only drink them when I'm going out to eat but I've tried to get tea more, sometimes water. Anyway, my friend had told me that he really liked Naked drinks. I got the blue machine one because I like the taste of blueberry. This one, to be honest, wasn't amazing. I liked it, but not as much as soda or tea, but more than other smoothie drinks. This, so far, is the only one I've tried and i really want to try the green one because I love greens! They're so delicious and good for you. On the back of the bottle, it shows you what fruit is in it and the vitamins it contains. I like looking at the fruit part but I don't know what vitamins do what for my body and which ones I really need. Although this one isn't my favorite, I still wanted to recommend it because if you're trying to be healthy, but don't necessarily like healthy foods, this does taste better than a lot of other things I've tried. I hope you guys try it and let me know how you feel and if I try anymore, I'll let you guys in on if they're good or not!

My babies :)

Piston!
Marshall and of course his ball!
The big black dog's name is Marshall. He's a German Shepherd /Black Lab mix. He's about a year and a half old and we've had him since he was about 6 weeks old. He's named after Eminem a.k.a. Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr., who is one of my favorite artists. From the view that you see him, Marshall's left ear always sticks up and the other one is floppy. It's up right then 'cause I was talking to him, but it's normally down and it's super cute! We joke that his left side is German Shepherd and his right side is Black Lab. We love him so much!!
My other dog is a Yorkie and his name is Piston. We got him a few days before we got Marshall, we rescued him from someone who didn't want him anymore. We're not sure how old he is, but hopefully not too old because I want to keep him for a long time! When he gets excited about anything, he jumps in circles, but only in one direction, it's so cute! Both of these guys are my babies but Piston is the one that sleeps with me and follows me everywhere and lays in my lap all the time. I'm not sure what I'd do without my little guy!

Until next time, Pseudonymous

Good morning, Lake!

Where has the time gone?! I can't believe it's already been a week since I've uploaded anything. I don't want to make any promises as to how many times I'll post in a certain amount of time but I would like to not take forever between posts!!
So this past weekend me and my family bought a camper and went camping at the lake! It was so much fun. There were seven of us and one of my dogs. We borrowed a pontoon and rode around on that, and our two jet ski's (I didn't think to take a picture of them!). Marshall loved swimming around and getting his ball, though I wish we would've gotten him a life vest so when he got tired, we wouldn't have had to hold him up and get scratched. We all burned and got worn out but it was so much fun and I hope we get to do it again soon. :)

How about the park?

I just went to the park for the first time and jogged/walked. It was a pretty long trail, longer than I'd guess. It's further out than you can see here and I went around about three times, making sure to drink some water as I went. I just got home (I love you, AC!) and am having a snack. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's an orange, tangerine, etc. I always forget! And of course some tasty water. If you don't like just plain water, don't be scared to add a little juice. Lemon juice (little bits) can help shrink your belly over time. Or maybe drink some sugar free kool-aid. My point is, get some liquids! And a little fruit snackage won't hurt.

Dehydration is a no-no!

Water is so important, especially when you're working out, running, or in heat. Obviously there are a lot of drinks you can drink besides water, but guess what's the best? Right, water! The recommended daily value is 8 glasses a day for everyone. Obviously a two year old and a forty year old won't be drinking the same amount: 8 glasses. Another recommendation is 2 oz for every pound of body weight. So half your weight and you should be drinking that much water. I personally don't do that because I don't even drink that much liquid altogether in one day but even if you don't do what's recommended, ANY water helps. Just remember to keep your body fueled while exercising, don't forget about your internal parts. :)

Broccoli Never Hurt Anyone!

Ingredients:
1/3 c. water
1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
broccoli

I didn't measure my broccoli, I used whatever would fit in the bottom of my pan, maybe a bit more. I tasted mine halfway through and it wasn't salty enough for my taste (I love salt!) so I added a bit more garlic salt. I just added the ingredients together, let it boil and poured half of it into another container, added my broccoli, trying to break them into sizes that're roughly close and then poured the remaining liquid back on top of the broccoli and stirred it. I turned it down to about medium heat and added a lid. I forgot to measure times but I know they were on there for at least five minutes, if you wanted to walk away for that long. Cook until tender. I just made sure mine could pierce with a fork easily. There will be a little extra juice that you can either pour out or pour over your broccoli (I've done both) and then grab a fork and enjoy!

Here we go

My very first blog!! I've been on and off with wanting to exercise. Actually, I've always wanted to, it's just a matter of doing it. I love to talk, therefore love to write and I figured that by beginning a blog, and telling other people what I'm going to do during the day, I might actually bother to do it! Or I might just tell people what I actually HAVE done. I'd prefer the gym but I don't want to pay for it so I'm stuck at home, working with what I have. I have a dog that I can play with but it gets very tiring fighting for his ball so I prefer not to do that. Running is enjoyable once I get outside and am not burning alive. I just take my iPod out in my back pocket and listen to music while I run in circles around my yard, house, or pasture. I did that today and hope to find the motivation to continue.
